Spain training camp 1st-8th April 2017

Posted on: April 23rd, 2017 by John Donovan

The 2017 training camp in Spain was once again  a very enjoyable and successful venture for Anaconda SC.

37 swimmers  under the guidance of 5 coaches took part in 11 two hour sessions in the 50m pool and 2 land training sessions under the palm trees on the beach. The squad also worked hard out of the pool in team meetings that covered the following topics, nutrition, flexibility, land training, goal setting, performance profiling, growth mindset and race routine. Hopefully the swimmers will take away what they learned on the camp and carry on using this knowledge to help them improve as swimmers both in and out of the pool once they return home.

The entertainment at night saw the swimmers put into four teams and then competing against each other to win points in order to win the week long team competition. Games included balloon games, cup stacking, a quiz, fun eating challenges. There was also a fun team gala at the pool and the challenges ended with a talent contest on the beach, which once again showcased many talents including singing, rapping, dancing and acting.

Many thanks to Steve Greer and Wayne who did all the hard work behind the scenes to organise the trip once again. A big thank you to our hard working coaches Wayne, Joe,Harley,Ravi and Charlotte and John Donovan the (unofficial) photographer and water boy. A massive thank you to the swimmers for all their hard work and good behaviour, you did your parents and Anaconda SC proud!
