National Junior Arena League Rd 1 23rd April 2017

Posted on: May 3rd, 2017 by John Donovan

Congratulations to our Junior Arena League squad who competed at Basildon in the opening round of this years competition.

After promotion to the top division, it is always a tough and daunting proposition coming up against some of the biggest clubs in the region  but our youngsters competed admirably and finished the evening in 7th position.

Special congratulations to Sophia Bremen (11) who won the 11/u Girls 50m breaststroke in a Pb time of 41.19. Alec Selwyn (10) who came 2nd in the 10/u boys 50m breaststroke, also in a Pb  of 45.25 and to Lily Arvanitis (9) who claimed 3rd place in the 9yr 25m breaststroke in another Pb of 21.87. It was also very pleasing to see our 11/u 4×25 medley relay squad of Persephone Holloway, Sophia Bremen, Evie Stansfield and Evelyn Cole manage a podium finish by coming 3rd in a good time of 1:10.43.

Well done to every swimmer who took part and contributed to a great team effort on the night and good luck to everyone in the 2nd round to be held at Basildon on the 21st May. (Please come along and support our young team)
