On the 21st May Anaconda Junior Arena League squad took part in the 2nd round of this years competition and came up against tough opposition but can lock back on some positives performances.
Anaconda came 8th when the final points were tallied up, only a point away from the team in 7th but considering the team were in 4th place at the half way point there is room for improvement when we take part in the final round.
Stand out performances on the day came from the boys 10/u team of Cy Sherliker, Alec Selwyn, Vinnie Benedict and Rocco Giustiniani stormed home to win the 4×25 medley relay in time of 1:14.00. Alec Selwyn finished a close 2nd in the boys 10/u 50m breastsroke event with45.88 and Sophia Bremen likewise in the Girls 11/u 50m breaststroke in 41.93. Cy Sherliker came 3rd in the 10/u boys 50m backstroke with 40.93 and our relay teams also achieved podium finishes, with the Boys 10/u 4×25 free relay squad of Cy, Rocco,Alec and Vinnie touching home 3rd in a time of 1:07.06. The Girls 10/u 4×25 free team of Lily Waite, Echo Braden, Scarlett Naybour and Ines Guetin were also 3rd with a fast time of 1:05.44 and the Girls 11/u team of Persephone Holloway, Sophia Bremen, Evie Stansfield and Martha Butler followed suit in the 4×25 medley relay with a solid time of 1:09.75.
So the 3rd round will determine if Anaconda can preserve its top flight status for another season, an exciting day of racing awaits when the club travels to Basildon on the 25th June to compete against Braintree & Bocking, Dulwich Dolphins, Romford, Colchester, Epping Forest, Harlow Penguins and Team Luton.
