London Regional Youth Championships 2017

Congratulations to our 12 strong squad who competed in this years London Regional Youth Championships at the London Aquatics Centre over the bank holiday weekend, they took part in  30 events, qualified for 10 finals and won 3 medals.

Tommy Donovan (16) led the way by winning gold medals in both the 50m & 100m breaststroke with PB times of 30.50 and 1:08.32 respectively. He also claimed a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke with a 7 second PB time of 2:28.30.

Alice Hockey (15) had some fine swims to reach finals in all three of her breaststroke events. Alice came 6th in the 50m breaststroke with 36.46 and 8th in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke with times of 1:23.30 and 3:03.41 respectively. Jess Neale (16) made the finals in both her Butterfly events, with 31.66 in the 50m placing her in 9th and 1:12.11 good enough for 8th place in the 100m fly. Ali Woolley (15) swam a great race in the 50m fly and his time of 29.24 placed him in 9th spot. Anatoly Bugakov(24) also reached the 50m fly final and his time of 27.02 placed him 10th spot.

The other squad members taking part were Sydney Celul (15) Esme Llewellyn-Smith (17) Noah Boydell (15) Luke Dudley (16) Fred Goudie (18) Alex Tegene (20) and Alan Smeets (33).

Head Coach Wayne Lock said ” After having such a strong County Championships a month ago I wasnt expecting a big improvement in personal bests. However I am pleased with the results. I am especially pleased for Tommy Donovan who medalled in the three breaststroke events.”
