A fantastic weekend of swimming from the 16 strong Anaconda squad at the London Aquatic Centre saw lots of personal bests and plenty of promise at this early stage of the season. From the 45 events  we had 12 finalists, from which 4 medals were won, 2 gold and 2 bronze in an event where there are only two age catogries Junior 16 & under and Senior 17 & over.

Tommy Donovan (17yr) had a great weekend reaching 5 finals from his 5 events. He claimed Gold in the Senior 50m breaststroke with a final time of 29.30 after a 29.01 in the heats, Bronze in the Senior 100m breaststroke when  he posted 1:04.38 and Bronze in the Senior 100m fly with 57. 60. Tommy also made the final in the 50m fly (26.25 5th) and the 100m freestyle (53.97 8th) and broke club records in the  Open 50 & 100 breaststroke and 50 & 100 fly. Elena Dewhurst (15yr) also claimed Gold in the Junior Girls  50m freestyle with a time of 26.10 and also made finals in the 50m fly (28.87 6th) and the 1oom  freestyle (57.97 4th). Elena broke club records in the 15yr 50m fly and 50m free.

Anaconda had more finalists in the shape of Alice Hockey(16yr) in the Junior Girls 50m breaststroke when she came 10th with 35.63 after her heat time of 35.06  had broke the club 16yr record. Alice also broke records in the 100m breaststroke (1:19.56) and 200m breaststroke (2:54.05). Sam McAllister (15yr) came 9th in his Boys Junior 50m breaststroke race with 32.47, Anatolay Bugakov (25) qualified for  the Senior 50m fly and came 8th in a time of 26.82 and Alan Smeets (34) made it a trio of Anaconda finalists in the Senior 50m fly where his time of 26.92 placed him in 9th place.

Swimmers who made the reserve  list for finals were Alan in the  Senior 100m free & 50m backstroke, Anatolay in the Senior 100m fly, Jess Neale Senior 100m fly and Leila Shafiq who was 1st reserve for the the Junior Girls 50m breaststroke with 35.49 (which was a new 13yr old club record). A great achievement from Leila who is 3 years younger than some of the finalists. Other club records broken were achieved by Leto Atherton in the 14yr 50m fly with 31.05 and Polly Rayner in the 15yr 50m breaststroke 36.86.
