London Regional Summer Championships May 2019

This years London Regional Summer Championships was another great success for Anaconda SC as the club made improvements on the previous year, with more finals reached and medals won from our squad of qualifiers.

The championships were again held at the London Aquatics Centre and Crystal Palace National Sports Centre where 32 Anaconda swimmers compete in 101 events, reaching 41 finals and coming away with 10 medals.

Rocco Giustiniani (12) won a complete set of medals in the butterfly events. Gold in the 50m  fly with a time of 31.7, Silver in the 100m in 1:09.87 and Bronze in the 200m fly with another PB of 2:39.53. Elena Dewhurst (16) won the Gold (26.56) in the 50m freestyle for the third year in a row and added a Silver in the 200m freestyle with 2:11.95.

Alice Bayley came away with a couple of well deserved medals in the breaststroke events, a Silver in the 100m with 1:16.81 and a Bronze in the 50m with 34.65. There were Bronze medals for Mabel Hayes (13) in the 50m freestyle (28.65), Lily Waite (13) in the 50m butterfly (30.35) and Chloe Baduna (13) in the 50m breaststroke (36.84) with the trio winning medals for the first time at regional level.

Anaconda were represented in finals by the following ; Chloe in the 100m breaststroke (1:20.73/4th), Mabel in the 200IM (2:39,09/4th), Elena 50m fly (29.58/4th) & 100m free (59.34/4th), Etti Hutt (14) 50m fly (30.99/4th) & 50m free (29.8/8th), Anatoly Bugakov (26) 50m fly (26.63/4th), Dorothy Brock (16) 200m free (2:13.82/4th) &  100m free (1:02.3/7th), Leto Atherton (15) 50m fly (30.23/6th) & 100m fly (1:10.58/9th), Leila Shafiq (14) 50m breaststroke (37.1/6th), Bruno Tubbs (14) 50m backstroke (31.89/7th), Lily 100m fly (1:11.37/7th), Rocco 50m free(29.95/7th), Sophia Bremen (13) 200m breaststroke (2:59.96/8th) Alice Bayley 200m breaststroke (2:53.9/8th), Alice Hockey (17) 50m breaststroke (35.6/9th) & 100m breaststroke (1:22.35/10th), Alan Smeets (34) 50m fly (27.18/8th), Polly Rayner (16) 50m breaststroke (37.92/9th) Sam McAllister (16) 50m breaststroke (32.74/9th) & 100m breastroke  (1:15.82/10th).

Making B Open finals (17yrs & over) were Alan in the 50m free (3rd), 50m back (5th); Jess Neale 200m fly (1st), 50m fly (5th) and 100m fly (6th); Sydney Celul (17) 50m free (5th) and Sadie Wilson (17) 50m back (5th). (no medals were awarded for the B finals)

Completing the squad of regional swimmers were; James Brealey (14), Evelyn Cole (14), Annabel Dewhurst (13), Helena Flynn (12), Rose Lin (12), Alex Mahon (12), Theo Pliner (15), Alec Selwyn (13), Stephanie Skoplakis (12), Taran Thomas (13),  Sam Tully (16) and Asa Williams (11).

Well done to every Anaconda swimmer who took part in these high level championships.
