Another fantastic week was had by all on this years warm weather training swim camp over the Easter holidays. 50 swimmers, 7 coaches and 1 chaperone/photographer made this the biggest and some would say best camp Anaconda have had so far!
After visiting Spain for the previous five years the Club thought it would be good for a change of destination and the choice of the Poggio A’llagnello resort an hours drive from Pisa in Tuscany proved to be a good one as we stumbled across an idyllic setting for a week of hard work and some fun along the way. Sharing the training site with swimming clubs from Strasbourg and London, tri – athletes from the Italian national team and even the Austrian Speed Skating team meant we were in the right place for some serious training with a beautiful backdrop and the coaches delivered an excellent programme that the swimmers found stimulating and very rewarding.
Eleven two hour sessions in the pool were accompanied by daily stretching/mobility exercises, pre and post pool, daily workshops in the conference rooms on topics covering nutrition, growth mindset, race profiling and the ‘Rocky road to success’, Land training for everyone and weight sessions for the older swimmers and plenty of fun and games kept everyone busy and entertained throughout the week.
Anaconda Swimming Club would like to thank all the swimmers for their efforts and hard work on the training camp and their impeccable behaviour throughout, they were excellent ambassadors for the club. Big thanks to Wayne, Joe, Michele, Ben, Katie, Ravi and Fred for all their hard work delivering an excellent camp and to John for capturing the many images that were relayed back home to the parents. Big thank you also to Craig Gruber who did all the hard work behind the scenes to make sure the logistics of the trip were all in place before we left. A great team effort once again.
Italy 2019 done!
